Amaltas, or Cassia fistula, is a symbol of wisdom, enlightenment, and spiritual growth. In some Buddhist traditions, these golden trees are planted near monasteries and meditation centres, standing as living reminders of the path to awakening. Their golden blooms appear in full glory during the summer months of May and June, lighting up the landscape like falling sunshine.
In May of 2025, I dreamt of Amaltas as far as the eye could see. I was standing on a terrace with my loved ones, the sun glinting through the trees—it was utterly mesmerizing. I had to paint it. This artwork is my way of holding on to that moment, that feeling of awe.
